Choosing Subjects at a University

So now you’ve accepted your offer, and now it’s time to choose your subjects. We understand that subject selection can be difficult, therefore it’s a good idea to attend any academic counseling or enrolling workshops offered by your school, since these will provide you with thorough information on your specific course. Read on for Good Universities Guide’s top tips to get you started, along with some additions of our own.
Refer to Course Guides and Handbooks
The first thing to consider while selecting subjects is your course guide or handbook. This will tell you which topics are required for your degree (compulsory or core subjects) and which you can pick yourself (electives). Depending on your style of study, each course needs you to finish a set number of credit hours every study semester. Some courses may consist mostly of core subjects with limited subject selection flexibility, whilst others are more flexible and allow you to explore your interests and choose electives.
In arts, linguistics, history, criminology, and these types of degrees, you can usually select a major or minor in later years of study. In highly regulated fields, such as engineering, core subjects are completed to meet industry and government accreditation requirements. This

Accessibility in Education

You may be wondering what “accessibility” means. Well, it is the practice of making information, activities, and/or environments sensible, meaningful, and usable for as many people as possible. When we further extend this concept to education, it leaves us wondering and bothered as to why had this initiative not been taken sooner?
As Learnosity puts it best, “Accessibility in education helps create better opportunities for learners. If learning materials are not accessible to learners, then learners’ abilities won’t be accessible to educators.” Although all students receive and respond to information in various ways, the belief that people with learning disabilities are somehow less skilled academically is a myth that has to be corrected. The loss of potential is the most visible victim of the documented failures. Students with learning disabilities are not only less likely to finish postsecondary education, but they are also less likely to find work than those who do not have a learning impairment.
However, the impact of a failing educational system on the lives of individuals with special needs extends beyond academic and financial concerns. Another debilitating side effect is its social impact. A terrible school experience will affect a student’s self-image as well as their view of

How to Stop Procrastinating?

How to Stop Procrastinating? Procrastination- a phenomenon we are all too familiar with and guilty of succumbing to at some point in our life (unfortunately, more often than what we would like to admit). We feel that we must get some work done but are not able to bring ourselves to actually doing it, and instead of doing the needful, we end up in a turmoil of terror where we stay in our comfort zones, wasting endless hours on entertainment and relaxation. This goes on and on till the last minute when stress and pressure force us to finish the task; but in some cases, the job never gets done at all.

Although we might feel like we deserve the break (which lasts from hours to days), procrastination does absolutely no good to us- both, in the long-run as well as the near future of the individual. The subconscious guilt of not getting work done may make us feel like a loser. It even results in poorly submitted work, incomplete tasks, and a horrible image on oneself while affecting one’s creativity and productivity, amongst many other areas. With these low levels of self-esteem, it is crucial to beat

The Importance Of Research For Students

Beyond what students learn in the classroom Beyond what students learn in the classroom & on their own through their network and interests, the opportunity for research through their universities is vital. Not only will it establish their acumen for being able to dissect layered topics, it will also bring value to their school for being attached to such research. For a student with an interest in a certain field, it can be somewhat overwhelming to get started. Not only is research a time consuming pursuit, finding the right outlet to share their findings can be an issue as well. As a student with a knack for research, knowing where to start is key.

Usually a member of faculty in your department can direct you on where to start and how best to organize your findings in an organized and proficient manner. The plus is that the majority of tenured lectures have a background in research. Start by talking to a professor that you feel most comfortable with about your interest in getting into research. They can guide you to the right way and even developments in your field that would be worth looking into. If your university

Get access to higher education

WE BELIEVE IN HELPING LEARNERS The harrowing reality of education is the truth of how many gifted and enthusiastic students don’t have access to higher education. Even those that do are sometimes forced to fund their pursuits through loans and going into debt. Then, once they are in the higher education system, affording basic amenities needed to succeed can be difficult.

Connect students to financial support Students can submit their projects Students can get backing from supporters Student’s educational pursuits can be tuition fees, supplies, school projects, etc… With these hurdles on the path to meaningful education, we are proud to do our part in helping connect students to financial support. By using the FundLearner platform, students can submit their projects and get backing from supporters Whether it be family or friends, people can donate to their progress and be updated on their work. At launch, we’re accepting any projects that deal with a student’s educational pursuits including tuition fees, supplies, school projects, travel fees etc. FundLearner is both a way for students to find funding, people to help these students and others to track their progress.
